A gas leak that caused an explosion in an Iranian coal mine has resulted in 51 casualties, Iranian state media has reported, saying rescue operations for the surviving people in the mine were challenging. The explosion occurred in two blocks of the Madanjoo mine in Tabas, South Khorasan, eastern Iran.
