Our second bumper-packed issue of the festive season features a Bentley scoop, our road test yearbook and a super saloon twin test

It’s the end of the year and we’ve marked the occasion with the second of our two double-issue magazines. This week it’s the big one - Autocar’s annual road test yearbook. We’ll be running through the year’s biggest reviews, our frankencar and much more.

Plus plenty of news, opinions and first drive reviews.

*News*

Bentley has revealed the swansong model for its venerated W12 engine, set to be produced by its bespoke Mulliner division. The exclusive model will be followed by the firm’s first EV. Find out more in this week’s mag.

Elsewhere, Volvo has backed saloons and estates despite sales of its S and V-series models being out-sold by its SUVs by 75%. Find out what the firm has to say in this week’s news feature.

*Reviews*

The RUF SCR leads our first drives section this week. Built around Ruf’s proprietary new composite monocoque, this 911-alike combines old-world ingredients to mesmerising effect.

Meanwhile, we test the Audi R8 V10 Performance in Gran Canaria. The rear-driver is one of two new models that will take the V10 supercar to its expiry date. We also drive the Cupra Born, the BMW iX and Morgan Plus Four Racer.

*Features*

We pit the Audi RS3 against the BMW M3. The M3 is finally being offered with optional all-wheel drive - can the latest Audi RS3, revamped for the PlayStation generation, keep it in its sights? Matt Saunders heads to the Peak District to find out.

Andrew Frankel runs us through his ‘Frankencar’ concept - a pick and mix of the best cars throughout the year formed into one, perfect all-around model.

The Autocar team runs through their favourite cars of 2021. The Lotus Evora, Alpina B8 Gran Coupe and Alfa Romeo Guilia GTAm are just some of the cars featured.

What does the year ahead have in store for motorists, and how can we all make the most of it? Autocar’s writers rack their brains for the answers in our 2022 predictions feature.

Last but not least, James Attwood runs through the year’s most important news and the implications on the automotive industry.

*Opinions*

Matt Prior empties his notebook from the year and discusses his visit to a Vintage Sports Car Club race paddock in July. James Ruppert talks about second-hand pick-ups.

*Deals*

Road-going rally cars feature in this week’s classified section, while Jack Warrick recommends the Lamborghini Murcielago for those with pockets deep enough in our used car buying guide.
