Dubai's ceaseless boom is putting strains on its residents

Skyscraper-studded Dubai has been on a hot streak for the last five years — and some are starting to get burned. The city-state has seen record-breaking real estate transactions as well as record earnings for its state-owned airline Emirates as more and more people come there to live. But as the successes pile on, strains are starting to be felt by the foreign workforce that powers the wider United Arab Emirates and its Emirati citizens. At the top of the list are worries about endless traffic, unaffordable housing and other costs.
