
United Way turns free tax prep, other services into community investment multiplier
With the federal income tax filing deadline just around the corner, the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania and its agency partners have shifted into high gear. Every year since 2009, the United Way and the Allegheny County nonprofit Just Harvest have come together to lead the Free Tax Prep Coalition, which has volunteers at nearly two dozen community sites each year helping about 9,000 households making less than $65,000 a year file their taxes.
