New EP 'Dem Times' is out now...

In the wake of the success of debut album ‘Say Less’, Canadian rapper *Roy Woods* is back with a newly released EP, ‘Dem Times’.

Woods is an artist steeped in the spiritual elixir of hip-hops past, present and future. After a breakthrough debut album and a string of successful singles, including a feature from Drake and over two billion streams, Roy Woods is ready for something new.

A standout track on the EP is 'Like Pascal', which has just had an accompanying music video produced. Directed by L.A Rubio, the video is a reminder of the dreary confines of lockdown, where Woods finds himself facetiming Pascal Siakam in the claustrophobic setting of his apartment.

The track acts as contemporary ode to the Raptors talisman, Woods told complex “with this song I get more in your face with the lifestyle I live”.

This boisterously flamboyant video places particular emphasis on the VHS camera effect, drawing much resemblance to previously shot videos 'What We Did' and '2 Me'.

Lyrically and visually the track is a daring depiction of the rapper’s success where he has found himself ‘balling with pascal’ and ‘swiping cards till they’re maxed out’. Yet, amongst such success Woods also acknowledges his anxiety of losing the lifestyle he has worked so hard to get, lamenting the ‘clowns’ who try and steal his sound.

The rapper’s ability to meld creative dexterity, compelling visuals and lyrical prowess set him apart from much of his previous competition. Woods’ legacy is imminent.

Tune in now.

'Dem Times' is out now.
