Scottish songwriter *Charlie Clark* digs into his roots for new single 'Don't Have A Cow, Man!' - check out the video now.

Perhaps best known for his role in cult indie pop heroes Astrid, the Scottish born artist found a second wind in Los Angeles.

Becoming one of the city's most renowned promoters, he became a firm fixture in the area's music scene, before swapping one West Coast for another.

Returning to Scotland to care for his terminally ill father, he used this time to face up to some long-standing personal issues.

Music, as ever, was his solace, with new album 'Late Night Drinking' set to land later this year through Alan McGee's newly minted It's Creation Baby.

New single ‘Don’t Have A Cow, Man!’ is out on February 5th, but we're able to share a preview, in the form of his neat new video.

Written as the Scottish artist faced a huge crossroads in his life, it finds joy in the act of writing, and taps back into his roots.

A superb piece of jangle pop classicism, it seems to reference everyone from The Byrds and Big Star through to Teenage Fanclub, while also recalling some of Charlie's own aesthetic highlights.

He comments: “I wrote the chorus of ‘Don’t Have A Cow, Man!’ just before moving back to Scotland from Los Angeles and finished it in Stornoway… I came home to help care for my father who was terminally ill so I had some serious s**t to get together.”

A sunshine blaster, 'Don't Have A Cow, Man!' finds light in the darkest corner.

“A friend said it’s like 'Sit Down' by James on very strong sedatives!” he adds. “Having said all that I also wanted it to have a good groove and make people dance! It’s a slice of indie pop definitely inspired by more 60’s style pop. I hope people see it as a positive message as obviously I chose to live!”

It all comes equipped with a pretty damn funny video of Charlie Clark having the time of his life in a cow-style onesie on a remote Scottish beach.
