It's built for the live environment...
*Wolf Alice* have shared their stunning nw single 'Smile'.
The band's new album 'Blue Weekend' is due shortly, but it won't be accompanied by their usual powerhouse live performances.
Touring is slated for later in the year, and this need for connection runs through much of their new work. Take 'Smile'.
The bruising opening riff is an absolute pile-driver, arguably one of the heaviest things Wolf Alice have yet concocted.
It's offset by moments of sanguine beauty, though, verging on shoegaze levels of utter bliss.
Ellie Rowsell states: “This is one of the songs we wrote thinking that we would play it live. I miss that feeling of singing on stage. It’s like screaming into a pillow or something — you can get away with being more nasty. There’s a whole other part of me missing.”
Jordan Hemingway directs the video, which depicts Wolf Alice engaging in a debauched and intimate live show.
Tune in now.
