The song is a turning point for the three-piece...

West Irish avant-punk group *Nerves* have shared their powerful new song 'Leigue'.

The group were stopped in their tracks as 2019 drew to a close, when a close friend and former band member passed away suddenly.

Struggling to process this enormous shock, grief prevented lyricist Kyle Thornton from being able to find a forward step.

Gradually, he was able to relocate his connection to creativity, and the lyrics to new song 'Leigue' became his pathway out of grief.

Out now, it's an incredibly powerful song, with the crunching guitars given added bite from producer Daniel Fox (Girl Band).

A blast of corrosive sound, 'Leigue' pushes out towards the seven minute mark, a Brutalist construction that recalls Shellac in its bass-heavy abstraction.

Kyle Thornton says...

"We feel as though 'Leigue' was a bit of a turning point for us as a band, towards something more mature and cathartic. It’s paved the way for how our sound and attitude has changed over the course of the last year. It’s still intense and still fun to play but it means more to us now than I think it ever has."

Tune in now.
