Foxconn, the Taiwanese contract manufacturer, announced a Rs 22,000 crore investment in Karnataka, which includes a manufacturing unit near Doddaballapura, promising to create 40,000 direct jobs. Chief Young Liu revealed the unit would become Foxconn's second-largest plant after its China unit, and it is expected to produce Apple gadgets and other electronics. The Karnataka government pledged support, ensuring the provision of water, electricity, roads, and legal assistance. The plant, already employing 6,000 trainees, is expected to be operational by next year, aiming for a global standard industrial environment.
