Missing person from Tiverton

Police searching for a woman who has been missing since Monday 17 February have recovered a body from a river in Thorverton.

Officers received reports at around 1.30pm today of a female body in the water near Thorverton Weir. The discovery was made by a dog-walker.

Formal identification has yet to take place. The family of Jean Disney have been made aware.

At this time, the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police would like to thank the Tiverton community and surrounding areas and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and all specialist agencies involved in this complex search operation.
