Serious injury collision, Cullompton

A woman has died following a collision in Cullompton on 4 November 2021.
Officers and paramedics were called to the incident in Fore Street, which involved a Ford Transit van, at around 10.40am.
87-year-old Muriel Hammett, a local woman, sustained serious injuries to her head and legs and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for treatment. Police have since been informed that Muriel died in early January.
Fore Street was closed for around five hours while an investigation took place. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Following the incident, a man, aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs. He remains under investigation pending further enquiries.
