Road traffic collision nr Okehampton

At about 1620hrs on Sunday 27^th February 2022, on Rocley Lane/Harper's Hill in Northlew, Okehampton by the bridge over the River Lew. An 11yr old cyclist was coming down the hill towards the bridge has had to take evasive action to avoid a blue car on the bridge. The boy has collided with the hedge and has ended up in the river beyond the hedge and has serious and life changing injuries. The car did not stop at the scene and officers are keen to speak to the driver of the vehicle involved and anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit attended the scene and commenced an investigation to establish the cause of the collision.

Any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision who may have witnessed the incident or Dash Cam footage of the incident are asked to please telephone 101 quoting Log 231 14^th March 2022.
