Speeding driver jailed after being caught out by his phone

A man who gave police false details for speeding offences was caught out by his mobile phone.

Omar Akam, 29, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment at Bradford Crown Court yesterday (Monday).

He was also disqualified from driving for 18 months.  

Akam, of Wilkinson Terrace in Bradford, provided false details to officers after he received two Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIPs) for speeding offences committed on the M62 in West Yorkshire in June 2022.
