British Gas, OVO, EDF, EON, Octopus customers on 'standard variable rate' warned

The Ofgem price cap does not put a limit on how much you can pay for energy - instead, it sets a limit on unit rates for gas and electricity, as well as the standing charges, which is what you pay to be connected to the grid.
