Brighton life played out on the big screen

Do you like a scary movie? I’m a bit of a wuss. I hadn’t been to the cinema for donkey’s years – a habit lost since covid – but last weekend I found myself in the front row in the Duke of York’s. It’s my wife. She doesn’t understand why anyone would sit in the middle of the seats – we long ago gave up the back row. Why pay for the same view you get from your home TV when the screen can be right on top of you? Faced with a ticket price as frightening as Reeves’ fiscal black hole, at least you get to leave with a free crick in the neck. And no one will see you scream.
