The big news from the Council over the past week is our interim submission to Government concerning something called ‘local government reorganisation’. This is in response to the Government’s letter to Brighton and Hove and our neighbouring authorities in East and West Sussex, asking us to collaborate on developing proposals for rationalising how local government works. In particular the government wants ‘two tier’ areas that currently have either district or borough councils as well as county council governance to have just one layer of local government; a unitary authority which Brighton and Hove already is.
