Judge's bench.
Starting july 1st... the rules of the road will be different in indiana... news 10's jordan kudisch joins us live from outside..
Our studio... she spoke with police about the "hands free" law.
And has more on how it'll impact you.
It takes just seconds to get distraced using one of these..
And potentially taking a life.
This new law..
Will help lower that risk.
Sgt.
Matt ames with indiana state police told me that distracted driving has become an even bigger issue in the state..
Over the years.
In fact..
He says it's on the leading causes of teen death.
The new law says you can't use or hold a phone while the car is moving.
Again, it only applies if it's moving.
There are other ways to be hands free.
That's by connecting to bluetooth..
Waiting until you're stopped..
Or using mounts.
Ames says these are easy ways..
To help save a life.
"basically, turn your cell phone off..put it out of sight..and pay attention to your driving and by you doing that it's making roadways safer for your and everybody else."
Coming up..
