Covid-19 has impaced the senior community more then any other age group across the country.

In today's always together always local we are featuring homecare by design who says this pandemic has helped them teach seniors new skills they didn't have before.

Quarantine can be lonely especially for seniors who live alone.

"isolation is detrimental you know and actually hurts our immune system by depression and anxiety and all those different things that we can experience."

Homecare by design specializes in providing non medical care for seniors.

"we have about 60 regivers and we go in to the homes of nrand provide e on one carend that's nd of where the design partmes e rson always gets to is able stay their home so it nd of acts as like theartment be le to come to activities dclub b usevents had to be cancled due to stay at home ordersring s safe the company made sure they took extra percautions "we got the supplies we needed and we brought our caregivers in and did extra training with them."

And the caregivers were able to seniors extra time at home to teach them how to operate useful technology.

"having a caregiver in the home who has a smart phone we were able to start doing some teaching with them so they could also skype with their family so they could learn facebook and learn to connect with people that way."

And since the global pandemic had the largest affect on seniors..

The company created the pink door campaign to show support for them during this ever changing time.

"our community does care... and they do i think greater lafayette is amazing and we really do care but we wanted something visually that they could see that... and that would make them feel safe and secure."

Homecare by design is slowly opening up their clubhouse for small group activities since restrictions have been lifted.
