I'm hunter petroviak.thanks for joining us.unemployment rates across indiana continue to decrease as more businesses open up.indiana had the third largest drop in the country in unemployment from april to may..and experts expect that to continue.fox 55's chris mullooly joins us live.

Chris..what industries have helped bring those rates down.

Hunter..

Its the hospitality and service industry and manufacturing industry.as the state continues to open up..

It allows more businesses to bring workers back.the trouble..

Is working out when any sort of 'normalcy' will happen with these rates.

The question is do we reach a threshold or plateau in that but it varys by industryas indiana nears stage five in governor eric holcombs five stage plan....the restaurants... bars and businesses once closed are opening back up.good news for employers and employees looking to get back to work.

And thats shows in original unemployment claims and the unemployment raterick farrant with northeast indiana works says unemployment claims have significantly dropped over the past few weeks...indianas unemployment droped from 17.5 percent to 12.3...but farrant says it'll take a lot of work..

To see us where we were 4 months ago and we were at 3 or 4 percenthe says while the decrease is good.

.the number of unemployment is still staggering.he says good news... even in countys with higher rates... like noble county...jobs are still available.noble county where they continue to hire itll have an impact on high unemployment ratesrachel blakeman with purdue fort wayne says the next few months will be especially hard to determine.dramatic drop between april and may i'm not sure whats gonna happen between may and juneshe says while the re opening has helped businesses... the real factor will be consumers.if they don't have the money to spend on goods... it creates a domino effect... that'll affect all industries.and so thats why we have to watch this the concern about the economy and about the virus and its affect on people reporting live, chris mullooly, fox 55 news.
