If enough votes are gathered to change the state's flag, the governor said a veto on his part would be pointless.

Governor tate reeves said he is torn on the flag issue reeeve took to facebook and said " i don't think that if you want to keep the flag you're automatically a traitor or racist.

I also understand that a flag isn't about the past; it is a banner for the present.

Outside of all the corporate posturing and preening, there is honest pain and discomfort felt when some mississippians look at the symbol on our flag."... but as for how to move forward he adds quote "i've been thinking, praying, and listening.

I still don't have all the answers.

I still think a vote of the people that this flag represents is the best way."

Legislators need a two-thirds majority to vote on a bill because it's late in their session.... reeves says that is the same majority they would need to overturn a veto... but he adds quote "if they get those votes, a veto would be pointless.

That debate would be over, and the flag would change."... state lawmakers said they could vote on the flag today or tomorrow of course we will of course bring you the latest on this story on wtva 9 news at four (music only) ."
