School supplies being provided for students

School supply shopping can be expensive - but one local district is taking that burden off of parents.

Albertville city schools is supplying students preschool through 12 grades with school supplies - free of charge!

Waay 31's spoke with one parent who says she can't thank the school district enough.

Sophia looklive: "parents of who attend albertville city schools won't have to worry about going to get paper, or pens and pencils for their children.

That's because the school district says they're going to take care of it."

Amy atchley, parent: "i was so thankful because i know for myself and others, this time right now is hard on everyone financially."

Amy atchley says she was relieved to hear albertville city schools would foot the bill for school supplies this year - especially since she has three children in school.

Dr. boyd english, albertville city schools superintendent: "number 1 goal in mind is supporting our families that have been impacted during this pandemic."

Superintendent boyd english told me the district plans on paying for the school supplies with federal money it received from the cares act.

Dr. boyd english, albertville city schools superintendent: "we're prepared to provide school supplies for somewhere around six thousand students."

English said this is just one way he hopes the district can help families during this pandemic.

Dr. boyd english, albertville city schools superintendent: "if we can take one worry off of our families, as we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, we really wanted to do that."

Amy atchley, parent: "even just that little bit, is just a blessing to us i know for my family and i'm sure for other families as well."
