Alicia says: "this year -- instead of tents, the red cross will be using hotel rooms as shelters" chad says: "that allows us to have a maximum amount of health and safety precautions in effect for individuals that have been evacuated from their homes because of a wildfire" even though emergency response will look different -- volunteers are still needed for a variety of tasks.

Chad says: "we still need volunteers there on the ground helping provide meals helping provide additional assistance and making sure that they've got some hope and comfort and a safe place to stay" while hotels are the first choice, the red cross says they will set up an emergency shelter under special ciumstances.

Chad says: "if we are asked by public officials to open an emergency shelter or more of a traditional style shelter we will do that" but with coronavirus precautions in place.

Chad says: "they will be undergoing the exact same health screening check that any other individual will be taking coming into a shelter or hotel they will be utilizing gloves in situations where that's necessary " the red cross says they will provide masks for those who don't have one and will allow for more space between cots.
