(some( guidance for schools re-opening this fall in areas where the coronavirus is under control, local school districts are starting to put together their re- opening plans which have to be submitted to the state by july 31st.

Westmoreland central school is holding meetings to get feed back and discuss plans with parents, teachers, and community members.

News channel 2's caitlin irla has more.

They're calling it the "summer bus tour" of westmoreland central school district.

At each stop of the tour, the superintendent, board of education members and other school officials will provide an update on re- opening plans, get feedback and answer questions from parents and students.

.

None .

None "we have no formal plan in place yet" "so we're going to take all of the information we're gathering now and then put that into in a plan once we figure out what that should look like."

Standup - keeping students safe comes with a number of challenges... such as getting them to school.

Transportation is one of the biggest concerns here in westmoreland.

"the transportation issue is certainly going to be a difficult one to solve, with the protocols that are currently in place, we can get six kids on a bus, it's not do-able, we have to figure out how to safely get kids to school .

Our school is on a highway, for us to expect our kids to walk is certainly not a great expectation."

Other top concerns are activities that need to be provided like lunch and gym where students are usually congregated.

He says weather permitting... both lunch and gym can be moved outdoors.

Certainly phys ed is going to look a little different, and lunch, so those will be our biggest logistical things to deal with, i'm confident we can deal with them i just don't know what the answer is right now."

"things we have to provide, i mean none of those things we can leave out because they don't work."

As for classes... right now, parents and teachers are discussing an alternating schedule for middle school and high school students.

Why its important to get our elementary kids in every day, i think an every other day schedule for them is probably not the best thing, high school kids it's a bit different nothing is set in stone yet but the district will be holding more meetings like this in the near future.
