WAAY 31's Breken Terry was at the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office after speaking with the Sheriff about their conditions.

About their conditions, breken?

Sheriff rick singleton told me one of those deputies was actually in the hospital for about four days.

Hes now home but has a long way to go.

Two deputies married to each other got coronavirus then gave it to their one year old son.

Fortunately, they're all doing better.

Singleton told me he's there with his deputies during tornadoes, and crime scenes but with this virus he feels helpless.

He said deputies have masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer in patrol cars.

There's also a disinfecting fogger for the jail.

He believes all of the deputies contracted the virus responding to different calls but doesn't have hard proof.

I asked him how this effects staffing.

<we have a minimum staffing level and we've been able to meet that level.

We have had some overtime here and there to make that happen but our staffing levels.

We're maintaining those.

> singleton told me in order for a deputy to come back to work they can't have any symptoms and must provide a negative test.

These deputies did not all test positive at the same time but all of these cases have popped up within the last month and a half.
