Fallen tree branch damages cars, injures woman

A large tree branch damaged cars and injured a woman in Downtown Chico on July 28.

And injured a woman in downtown chico today.

Emergency crews received a call at 12:30 this afternoon.

The city's urban forester..

Richard bamlet..

Said the limb fell from from a 50 foot tall "chinese pistache" tree... at third and salem streets.

A passerby had minor injuries..

But it's unclear if she was hit by the branch or just shaken..

And was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Bamlet said the tree was on city property, and showed no signs of any problems. he attributed it to the 'summer limb drop' phenomenon, that occurs after long periods of hot weather.
