College football season..

With schools going to a conference only schedule..

Pushing games to the spring..

Or even cancelling their season all together.

But what about a non-conference only schedule?

Instead of playing football an all-ovc schedule in the spring..

Eku has decided to opt out and play football this fall.

Today..

The colonels unveiled their 8- game schedule..

Five of which are on the road.

That includes the opening game of the season..

Two weeks from saturday at marshall.

Eku athletic director matt roan says they opted out of the ovc schedule because of the uncertainty of playing in the spring..

On top of the health risks asking players to play essentially two seasons in a calendar year.

While football is a huge source of revenue for athletic departments..

Roan says finances had nothing to do with why they opted for a fall schedule.

Colonels won't play their first home game until october 10.

Roan says they're still hoping to add a nineth game..

C1 3 to bring the total number of home games to four.
