3 tonight, a fort wayne mom in tears as she says her 5-year- old was escorted out of his classroom for wearing the wrong type of mask.

Fox 55's brianna dahlquist sat down with the mom who says she was never notified about her son being asked to leave.

"why would you do that to a five-year-old, ya know?"fort wayne mom dawn miller says she was never notified that her 5-year-old son was escorted out of his classroom for wearing the wrong kind of mask.

"i'm sending him to school with a mask that i feel is appropriate to him and if you don't like it, you need to call me.

She didn't, she changed his mask."miller says her son was taken out of his classroom unnecessarily."the fact is that she is going to take my kid out of class and make him feel weird and tell him to take it off.

She literally took it off his face and put this exact one on his face saying it was the governor's mask and unless he has this mask, he cannot come to this school.

He is not allowed at this school unless he has this one on.

I said this is discrimination."

Miller says she reached out to south allen county school superintendent philip downs.

"he said, well i am the superintendent, i was the one who was voted in and if you don't like it you can vote me out.

I said, well you've made your point pretty clear."fox 55 news reached out to the southwest allen county school district which released a statement saying it never discusses a specific student.

Miller says she just wanted a mask that was better for her son and that he could breathe in as well.

"they're just not handling this right with the parents.

It doesn't make me feel good to send my kid to school when they're telling me that this is the way it is whether you like it or not."in fort wayne, i'm brianna dahlquist.
