Update-- the suspect-- isaac-- "chase"-- hogan is set to be in court this thursday in union county at 8 for the death of dawsun stevens.

Hogan is currently being held in the webster county jail-- hogan has been charged with assault but more charges could be pending after further investigation.

Calls for the removal of confederate monuments still echoing across our nation tonight-- as one tristate community-- davis county-- deciding to relocate its confederate statue from its current spot on the courthouse lawn a similar discussions heating up --- in hopkins county.

Is it a part of history or is it racist?

This has been the debate in madisonville over the confederate statue on the former courthouse lawn for months arguing over whether or not the statue should be moved.

Is that statue has been there for 112 years and ie looked at it all my life and before i knew what it was so majestic and it just a part of anybody who lives in hopkins county it apart of our life" but a tentative decision has been made.

Instead of tearing down or removing the old confederate statute the magistrates suggested erecting a whole other statue on the otherwise of the court house building to represent the union side during the civil war.?i said this from the start: we can use this as a teaching monument to learn about the past and the atrocities committed and the evils of the civil war in general so i think we need to teach people about that so we don ever go back to something like that?

The big question - how will it be paid for?

As for now - it won be from any tax dollars but from fundraising.?it going to be a completely privately funded initiative.

But there are still a lot of details to work out, work through with different groups, different people.

Wel get a committee together to move forward with it?

The magistrates are expected to take a vote on the new statue at their next meeting.
