Judges Weigh In On Curbside Voting

WAAY 31 is learning if local probate judges think curbside voting is something counties across North Alabama would be able to implement before the general election.

They all said it would be impossible to work out the logistics of curbside voting with the election just four weeks away.

>> are you going to have to have poll workers for inside the building, for the people that come in and another set of poll workers for the sush side voting so there's a lot of unanswered questions and there's no -- i don't see any direction in that.

>> breken terry: judge barrymore said there's no simple way to add a curbside voting option.

>> do you leave the machine in there that you have for the precinct or do you -- do you have two machines?

I mean, those are good questions and there's -- this none of this is addressed in this order.

>> breken terry: a judge ordered that they have to offer curbside voting because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But moore said that order doesn't give any guidance on how that process would work.

They will have other ways to vote if they don't feel safe waiting in the lines in the polls.

>> if somebody has an issue we have the absentee option of doing application, getting your ballot mailed to you, do what the appropriate paperwork is and turn around and send it back.

So, you know, there is an option of absentee voting there.
