The Chico Unified School district is preparing to roll out a reopening plan if Butte County stays in the Red Tier for two weeks.

Chico unified school district officials say if butte county stays in the red tier for two weeks - it can transition to a hybrid model.
That means half of the students will be in school in the morning and the other half in the afternoon.
Jim hanlon (on the phone)/assistant superintendent: it reduces class sizes so we can observe to the extent we can, social distancing.
Those parents who don't feel comfortable with the hybrid model can choose to continue with online learning.
Jim hanlon (on the phone)/assistant superintendent: we will accommodate all parents that want to remain online and we want to accommodate parents that want to come back to school.
Karin willhoit: my daughter is anxious to return and we are leaning towards it but we have some questions.
Kristian stand up with graphic: the safety guidelines that would have to be followed include sanitation, ppe, health screenings and social distancing.
