This is the moment the Atlanta police change the life of a domestic abuse victim and donate a SUV to the teary mother-of-five.The touching gesture was filmed at Bessie Branham Recreation Centre in the city of Atlanta in the US state of Georgia on 29th September.Officer Veronica Campbell told Janika Johnson before presenting the surprise gift: “Today is a day for you.
I know it was a little difficult for you, it felt like you were at the end of the road.”Officer Campbell donated a 2011 Dodge Nitro to Ms. Johnson and her five children so that she could get to her new job and make a fresh start.Three of the overwhelmed recipient’s children were present with her at the surprise event.According to the Atlanta Police Department, Ms. Johnson made “tough decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic”.The police explained: “She practically ended a part of her life characterised by unbearable domestic violence and moved to Atlanta with her five children.“She was forced to sell her car to provide shelter money for her family.The police added: “Officer Campbell and Ms. Johnson contacted the Atlanta Police Foundation’s At-Promise Center where they secured a job.”Officer Campbell recognised Ms. Johnson's need for a vehicle and decided to give her something that made the entire Atlanta Police Department proud.
