BEEN SINCE WE BEGAN COVERINGTHIS PROTEST FOUR DAYS AGO NOWWE WANTED TO GIVE YOU A LIVE.LOOK OUTSIDE OF CITY HALL ANDKANSAS CITY POLICE HEADQUARTERS,SO YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF THENUMBER OF TENTS THAT ARE HERE ATTHIS HOUR THE PROTESTERS AREDEMANDING CHANGES AFTER THISVIDEO EMERGED ON SOCIAL MEDIA.IT SHOWS A PREGNANT 25 YEAR OLDDEJA STALLINGS BEING ARRESTEDWEDNESDAY NIGHT AS A KANSAS CITYPOLICE OFFICER APPEARS TO PUTHIS KNEE ON HER BACK.NOW POLICE SAY THEY ARRESTEDSTALLINGS FOR PHYSICALLYINTERFERING WITH AN ARREST THEPROTESTERS SAY THEY WILL NOTLEAVE THIS AREA OUTSIDE OF CITYHALL IN KANSAS CITY POLICEHEADQUARTERS UNTIL POLICE CHIEFRICK SMITH, AND THE OFFICERINVOLVED ARE FIRED.THEY ALSO WANT FUNDING TO THEPOLICE DEPARTMENT TO BE CUT INHALF AND THOSE RESOURCESALLOCATED TO EDUCATION EFFORTSAND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES.OUR YOUNGEST VICTIM OF POLICEBRUTALITY.HAS IT EVEN BEEN BORN YET.HOW ARE PEOPLE NOT DISGUSTED?I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT WE CANDEFUND THE POLICE BY 50% INKANSAS CITY THE ONE I DON’TTHINK LEGALLY IT’S ALLOWED UNDERMISSOURI STATUTE, WHICH REQUIRESUS TO USE 20% OF OUR GENERALFUND FOR THE POLICE.I DON’T KNOW IF IT WOULD BEREALISTIC TO DEFUND THEM 50% ATLEAST IN SHORT ORDER IN TERMS OFTHE POLICE CHIEF.WE HAVE A BOARD PROCESS.THERE ARE FIVE PEOPLE ON THATBOARD AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANYTYPE OF DETERMINATION THATTHERE’S WANT FOR TERMINATION OFA CHIEF OF POLICE?NOW THE MAYOR WENT ON TO SAYTHAT CITY LEADERS INCLUDINGHIMSELF CAN DO BETTER AND THEYSHOULD THESE PROTESTERS TELL METHEY WILL STAY HERE INDEFINITELYUNTIL THEIR DEMANDS ARE METREPORTING L
