The Allen County Election Board and Huntington County Clerk's office are telling residents what they need to know before they come out Tuesday to vote early.
The wait is over as indiana voters will now be able to vote early starting tomorrow.
Fox 55's brianna dahlquist spoke with the allen county election board to see what fort wayne residents need to know before they head out to the polls.
Tomorrow officially kicks off early voting in indiana.
Whether you're voting red or blue, beth dlug from the allen county election board says there are a few thing you need to know.
"we've gotten a lot of calls with people who said i will be here for the first day of voting so we're looking for a crowd."
The only place in allen county you can vote early tomorrow is the coliseum.
If you do find yourself at the end of a long line, dlug says don't get discouraged.
"you may be thinking oh my goodness, that long is so long but it's really not that long because we're trying to keep everyone six feet apart."
Along with longer lines, dlug says if you mailed in your vote, patience will definitely be needed.
"it's going to take a little longer, we believe, to get all those ballots counted."
Early voters in huntington county will have to cast their ballots at the clerk's office.
Shelley septer says if voters change their minds about voting by mail it's important that you bring your absentee ballot with you."it's crucial that they bring that ballot that we've mailed them in with them to relinquish them.
They will not be allowed to vote if they do not relinquish the ballot that we sent them."
Dlug says allen county voters can come to the coliseum even if their polling site is somewhere else.
"you could actually make it a family affair if you want.
You can bring grandma and grandpa and everybody can come to the same location and vote no matter where you live throughout the county."
If you're a little apprehensive to vote during the pandemic ...dlug says they've added extra precautions this year.
"we're spacing the machines out.
We have 15 of them for early voting and we're spacing those out six feet apart and our employees have on masks."
In huntington, septer says voter will not be turned away if they don't have on a mask.
"we strongly suggest that they wear a mask but we will not turn anyone away for not wearing a mask."
But you will get turned away for is wearing attire with any candidate's logo or affiliation.
"it's just a requirement by the state, that's not something that's allowed in the polling stations.
Electionairing cannot go on."
One thing dlug says you absolutely have to have is this."you must have that indiana photo id to vote."
