In the last 30 minutes, a decatur city schools official told us no new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed today.

But the virus is causing many changes in the decatur city school system.

Waay 31's max cohan joins us live from decatur with the latest.

Positive coronavirus cases are impacting students at both the elementary and high school levels at two of the districts schools -- inclduing julian harris elementary.

Decatur superintendent michael douglas told us wednesday night that third and fourth grade students at julian harris elementary were told not to come to school today after a teacher tested positive for coronavirus on wednesday.

This impacts five classes across both third and fourth grades.

The district says fill-in teachers could not be found on such short notice.

And decatur high school is switching to virtual learning friday with 10 positive cases sending more than 100 unto quarantine.

Currently -- decatur's friday football game against hazel green is still on.

And just about half an hour ago district athletic director watt parker told me decatur high is still planning to play its game again hazel green tomorrow night live in decatur, max cohan, waay 31 news.
