éé " it saves peoples lives."

Mayor robbie robinson of west point says community members will keep their masks on.

After the governor eased mask regulations, robinson says the city's decision won't change until covid-19 numbers decrease.

" the city of west point adopted our mask ordinance july 7th of this year and it should remain in effect until the board resends it.

There no talk or discussion to resend so it's in effect.

" according to the mississippi department of health, west point has reported 626 positive cases since march.

" i personally think that mask work and i'm totally against the removing of the mask ordinance.

It need to continue and i hope it will."

But not all city governments are under the same protocol.

Ackerman mayor tim cutts says with a population under 15-hundred people masks won't be enforced.

" we are a rural county and we are spread out pretty good for the most part we do come together at times but we felt like there was really no need to have a mask mandate in ackerman at this time."

He also says infections are low.

" we don't have the numbers so basically it's not really smart to be walking around with a mask cause i'll tell you it's really not smart to just be walking around with mask on.

You're hurting yourself.

We'll follow it and adjust if we need to but you know the numbers are not there to emphasis that.

" robinson and cutts agree everyone should continue to use safety practices.

"follow precautionary things that you've been taught for six months.

Cough into your elbow definitely always use the sanitizer cleaning.

Stay away form folks that look like they're sick."

Butt sots " every county can do exactly what they please, i'm not going to tell them how to do it.

What they should od i think they should follow their dictates.

Follow their hears and follows the signs."

Over the next 72 hours, there's going to be a lot of rain in mississippi.

There is the potential for tornados, particularly of course, in hancock and pearl river, but also in those six southwestern counties that greg mentioned earlier.

Be weather aware.

Cadets in class b 65 have spent the week learning about driving and pursuit tactics.

It is one of the key components of police work.

"they're going to spend the vast majority of their careers in their vehicles, driving, that's what we do."

If he gets too far ahead , or if the cadets strike a cone, the pursuit is over.

Cadets must follow every one of the instructor's moves.

It's all about preparing for the next step.

"we want them to focus on real life scenarios, making sure they understand, this is not just what many people perceive as law enforcement, what you see on tv, real life situations are dangerous.

" instructor bearden allowed me to experience the course, and it was a challenge.

Nats cadets say this has been one of their favorite parts of the academy.

"one of the most challenging parts is maintaining your accuracy, we like to try and go through, see how quick we can get the course done."

"the precision you have to do on yuor turns, in your speed, you check that, cause if you're off on your angle, then it could cost you class b 65 has two more weeks to go.
