Under The Hood - Money Saving Tips

Jason from S&S Tire gives us some money saving tips in today's Under The Hood tip of the day!

My name is jason shade.

I'm the general manager here at s&s tire-beaumont center and brannon c1 3 crossing.

Here are a few little automotive tips that could help save you some money down the road.

And they're very, very, very simple tips.

For starters, it's the life of your battery.

How long has it been since you've had your battery checked for amperage?

Inclement weather is really, really hard on battery.

So the hotter it is, the harder it is on the battery.

The colder it is, the harder it is on the battery.

And the normal battery life is between two to five years.

So if you haven't checked it, it might be something that you want to look into.

And we do that here at no cost.

Another little tip would be to just keep a quarter tank of gas or a little more than a quarter tank of gas in your vehicle at all times.

What this does is it puts extra stress onto the fuel pump, especially whenever it's cold and it's just working extra hard to suck that extra fuel up into the system to run the vehicle.

So if you can keep more than a quarter tank of gas, it could potentially save you a lot of money.

'cause a fuel pump is a very expensive repair as we all know.

Another simple tip would be just typical vehicle maintenance, keeping up with the tire rotations, checking the filters, checking the belts, doing an oil change every three to 5,000 miles.

That's a big one.

And we do a free tire rotation here.

Whenever you do an oil change, it's part of the service.

We'll check the fluids, we'll rotate the tires, check the belts.

We'll do all that stuff for you.

So all of the maintenance issues that i have been over is something that's part of our basic service, whenever you just do an oil check.
