We continue to learn troubling new information of alleged abuse and neglect at a junction city nursing home --- some going back nearly a decade.
Kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome spent the day investigating - and joins us live with what she found.
Matt and renee... i'm here at the junction city retirement and assisted living community... and although there's only one buulding... there are actually two sections.
The assisted living portion is the only part regulated by the state.
And after digging through records all day... i learned they have a long history of alleged violations.
One major area of concern was accusations of under staffing.
In 2016 the state says staff failed to use two people to move a resident even though their file said they needed two and during that move the resident fell and was injured.
In 2019 the facility allegedly failed to secure a resident who needed to use the restroom.
The resident fell down because of this and broke a rib in 2015 after a resident was discharged from the hospital, the facility allegedly neglected to give him antibiotics he was prescribed for 5 days before they caught their error chief bob morris says it is our duty as a society to take care of the vulnerable.
Something that time and time again has not happened here.
"we need to take care of our children.
We need to take care of our elderly people.
And sadly those are the people the two vulnerable groups that very frequently go without protection or at least lack protection for a myriad of different reasons."
This all comes on the heels of a criminal investigation that started last month when a child of a resident reported cash missing from their fathers room.
That investigation is ongoing and police ask if you do have any information please give them a call i reached out again today to frontier management the managing company in charge of this facility and again.
They have failed to answer requests for comment.
