The storm team has been telling you... colder weather is moving in... and that means the flu season will be ramping up.
One local county's health department is giving an option to their residents to help them get ahead of flu season.
News 10's bri shackelford let's us know what they're doing.
The greene county health department wants people to be prepared for flu season this year.
They are doing so by working to provide free flu shots to residents who live there.
The clinics will be at various locations throughout greene county.
The health department says this wouldn't have been possible without the help of iu health.
They donated 2,000 free flu vaccinations.
The health department says the donation saved them over 33 thousand dollars.
They are trying to be proactive when it comes to the flu in order to make sure less people are hospitalized.
The health department wants to be able to keep as much focus as possible on fighting covid-19.
"we're dealing with covid-19.
And people coming onboard with the flu will over burden our healthcare system."
The 2,000 vaccinations that were donated will be administered for free.
Now the health department tells me that they have not yet finilized the locations of the clinics yet... but they will let us know as soon as it's done.
