Here at joy lyn's candies the owner says he decided to invest 25-thousand dollars in a generator so that he could keep his doors open during the shut offs.

The candy shop - which just reopened for the first time since the camp fire at the beginning of this month is still up and running.

Owner glenn hartley says he was surprised to hear that there were going to be shut offs this week but he was prepared for it.

His business is actually located on a grid where the power was not turned off.

But he is ready in case his business is impacted in the future.

Hartley says investing in a generator was an easy decision to make.

When you're talking about 25 thousand dollars that is a cheap investment when you're talking about 100- thousand dollars in inventory.

So it was a no brainer for us, we had to do it to be a surviving business in these times, in paradise.

But for those businesses on the ridge that may not be able to afford a generator - this could cost them a lot of money inventory costs.

Hartley says his shop has been slower than usual because many people aren't aware he is open today.

He says ever since he reopened again he is averaging about 100 customers a day and he is thankful for the support.
