Pandemic forces new approach to Halloween for East Hills Mall

This year's Boo Bash replaces the yearly tradition of handing out candy inside the mall.

Hundreds of trick or treaters made thier annual trek to the east hills mall in their costumes this halloween season, but as we all know this year halloween is looking a little different and the mall is no acception.

We checked out what they're doing this year that differs from years past.

The traditional event usually held inside the mall had to be changed for everyone's safety due to the pandemic.this year's trunk or treat boo bash aims to fill that gap, many parents we spoke with didn't mind the changeswe really didn't think too much of it we knew what to expect so we just got everybody together and ready and got our masks and we came out and had fun like we normally would whether it was outside or inside or we had masks or we didn't.but of course the true test is what the kids thought of all the fun did you all like it?

I got this and this and this is probably hot cocoaone of the good little girls was like i'm having the best day ever and that right there makes it all worth the planning.

While the kids were having fun dressed up in their costumes, even they had concerns of whether halloween this year would be more trick than treat.

I was kind afraid that hallowen would get cancelledwe don't know if we're gonna stay home or we're gonna go trick or treating.

There's some controversy about being able to go door to door and trick or treating, so we kind of just wanted to bring them out here to try and get some candy and interact with the community a little bit.

With so much up in the air, mall staff say they want to flexible with this kind of event in the future.

We would do this again i mean this worked out great it's good weather.

As long as we have a weather day heck we might do one inside one outside you never know.>> the boo bash also had a movie scheduled for tonight, but that was cancelled due to those
