Jason D'avolio trial begins tomorrow

The Oneida County Courthouse is reporting that all 16 jurors (12 primary, 4 alternates) have been selected for the Jason D'Avolio murder trial.

Right no... in e case ofjason dn accused of killing his estranged wife and dumpiher body in a dumpster.

D'avoliois e murder and concealment of a human corpse.

This trial was supposed to happen inarcbut wase pandemic hit....and the urtcloss brent kearney spent the day in oneida county court....watching juryselectione in the studio now with an update.

Kristen, today the both the defen d prosecutionquestioned 3e jurors with the goal of having 12 jurors and 4 alternates.

And we are learning late this afternoon that the jury has been seated.

For a trihat was scheduled to begin back in march.

Its been 447 days since law enforcement discovered the body of kerri lee d'avolio in july of last year.

Investigators, acting on information provided by the suspect, first searched local dumpsters, then the western oneida county waste disposal transfer station in rome, and ultimately the oneida county landfill in ava police say the damage to her body because of the garbage process was severe.

Once autopsy results found kerri lee sued a gun shot wound to the back the head, a grand jury indicted d'avolio and he was tn charged with second degree murder and the conceaenof a corpse.

D'avolio claims his wife killed her self and he pleaded not guilty to both charges.

After a number of hearings and court appearances d'avolio's trial was scheduled in march, but covid-19 put those plans on hold.

Today after around a 6 month delay, the defense and prosecution began picking 12 jurors and 4 alternates that would ultimately decide if d'avolio was innocent or guilty.

I was not allowed to take video inside of the courtroom, but i can say both the defense and prosecution questioned the 39 prospective jurors ensuring they have no bias opinions about the case.

Jason d'avolio is innocent until proven guilty.
