Kristen - there seems to be a lot ofonfusion er theinterpretaa county health departments rather than implementation of new protocols from either body.
Today - both whitesboro and camden school districts sent out letters to families indicated that the tri-valley league will not be allowing spectators into their stands.thm the oneida county department of health guidelines that states no more than 50 people can gather at a single venue at a time.
The interpretation is that this regional policy supercedes the state guidance of two spectators per student-athlete allowed.
However in speaking with oneida county executive anthony picente - he said that this is not actually the case.
He released a statement within the last hour - which i will share in full at six - saying that as far as the county is concerned - the two spectator policy handed down from the state is what is also allowed for games in our area but that individual schools do have thern policy.
We caught up with him just a little while ago where he re-iterated that there has been nothing new from the county superceding the spectator guidelines in place.
Anthony picente: oneida county has not put in anytng new..that's not at all true.
The center state conference in which other local schools play - including numerous also in oneida county has not enacted such a policy at this time.
Multiple c-s-c school athletic directors have responded to me saying that the two spectator rule - and media allowances are still in effect.
I'm continuing to inquire around regarding policies forspecific - however - it appears the disconnect is coming from interpretation of rules and not new rules being put in place.
