Plane makes emergency landing on McCarty Lane

No one was injured after a plane made an emergency landing Thursday on McCarty Lane in Lafayette.

Landing today.

The plane landed right here in front of lafayette seven movie the pilot's name is david tibbo.

He built thehomema.

Andad his passion project didn't hurt anyone.

He's also and didn't seem too fathe incid.

Tibbo took o airport this rning.

He says the plane lost electrical power mid- flight.

That caused the fuel pump to fail and the engine to shut off.

He dodged power lines and cars before stopping in front of the movie theater.

Jamie humbarger was on a walk when she saw the plane go down.

She says the aircraft was completely silent as it came in for a landing.

Ower lines and then a gap, and then power lines, so he had to just take it right down in between some of those power lines, which was also very impressive.

Tibbo declined to be interviewed on camera.

He said he tried to return to purdue university airport or land in a field.

But he didn't have enough momentum to clear the populated areas.

Tibbo is a purdue graduate student but he flies as a hobby.

He says he spent 10 months building the plane.

But now it has to b n to his rented hangar.

He says he'll fix the problem and fl ime he'll stay airport.porting le in
