Domestic violence continues to be a big danger through the pandemic - even right here in acadiana.
One survivor shares her story with news 1's patsy douglas.

Active standupsot - "the trauma never goes away, the memories never go away.....so there are certain triggers that i have when i got to open my door to go outside, there is still a trigger in me that omg somebody might be on the other side...."vo - ashley addison, lead singer of a local band called three thirty-seven says in marchof 2019, her life changed forever sot - "he screamed at me, cursed at me, he grabbed like a soccer field chair underneath my car porch, um that he was sitting in and he got up and he just started hitting me with it "vo - addison tells me after the assault, she went to the hospital where she was told that her orbidl was shattered and she had a blow out fracture that required reconstructive surgery ..sot - "some people were't surprised which lets me know that i kind of numbed myself to theintensity of the violence that was going on, um there was a lot of verbal abuse that happen"vo - addison says she still feels like the trauma will never go away sot - "i still have nights where i wake up in the middle of the night, and i hear some kind of noise and there is ptsd associated with the whole situation for me.vo - nicole cockerham director for development of faith house says if you are going through a similar situration-- you are not alone ...sot - "if you are going through a domestic violence relationship, intimate partner violence,give us a call, we have a crisis number it is 888- 411-133 and help resources, and shelter if you need it and healing ..
