Sparkman off to a great start.
Quarterback nick sawyer at the helm, the senators saw to it that there wouldn't be a vote.
A win was the only outcome.
And drive after drive, they saw the endzone.
Huntsville had bright spots..
Like like a drive late in the 2nd quarter that took them deep into sparkman territory but they couldn't close.
One drive later and sparkman is up to their usual order of business tonight.
Sawyer, eye failing to waiver an inch, finds his man time and time again, on this drive handing it off to #85 here who says a quick hello to the endzone and then a pat would follow.
7 more points, thank you, play it again.
Huntsville never recovered beyond two touchdowns in the 2nd half.
Too little too late.
Sparkman takes it 48-13.
With the 2-a regional crown on the line -- north sand mountain and falkville went to battle.
Up by six in the final minutes of the first half -- lake bell is looking for the endzone but a falkville defender is there to grab it and keep the bison from adding to their lead.
Just a few players later the bison would get a pick of their own as peyton sallee over throws his man and derek bearden is right there to snag it -- weaving his way through tacklers before eventually stepping out of bounds.
The north sand mountain would turn the ball over again on the next possesion.
Still in the first half-- the ball is back in bells hands and this time theres no one there to get in the way -- mason smith hauls this one in and the bison take a 12-point lead into the half.
In the third -- the blue devils would answer back -- christian angulo on the direct snap -- a few jukes and quick moves before he's across the line and in.
The bison lead now stands at 5.
In the fouth -- falkville would take a drive deep into bison terrority but fail to convert on fourth down -- a measurement shows they're short and the bison are able to just run out the clock -- winning this one 12 to 7 and capturing their first regional crown in school history.
After the game -- head coach keith kirby said it felt great to finally be 2-a region champs.
"it feels great, i'm tickled to death for these kids, tickled to death for the community and you know we fought hard all night long and hats off to falkville, they got a real good football team."
