But first we're bcky horse parkd out more about the beautiful amberday here at the breed barn, ely.

Amb: we can neven our neighborhood.

Amber-host: the kenank you for coming.

Amber-host: i'm here with kaagel right, so you get a pretty rse.

Kathy, what do we have?

Kathy: we have the horse that is prob of horse in the wor is lord rafique.

Aing name.

Kathy: yesare stunning.

Arabiane kathy: once you know what to look for, they're very easy to identify.

They've got a really chiseled head, they have a dished or concave face.

Notice that, especially in profile.

They've got those alert ear, those large nostrils to bring in all that air to run across the desert, and also usually a tail that's just very noticeable, usually proudly set tail.

Amber-host: they are very, very agile horses.they are known for their endurance.

You talked a little bit about how influential they are.

Here in kentucky and our thoroughbred industry, we wouldn't have them without the arabians.

Kathy: absolutely.

When it comes to thoroughbreds, when it comes to pretty much every american breed, if you go back far enough from their family tree, there's arabian influence in their.arabians, in part, important traits like speed, endurance, tractability, train ability, all the things you want in any kind of riding horse.

Amber-host: they're the pride of where they came from.

Can you talk a little bit about that history?

Kathy: absolutely.

The bedouin tribes for centuries closely guarded the pedigrees.

Obviously, there was no writing, so through spoken word they keep track of each mare, all the matings down through history.

There's a lot of legends that go into it.

One interesting thing about lord rafique is chances are you'd not see a solid black arabian horse in nature.

Amber-host: really?

Kathy: for obvious reasons.

If you're living in the desert, solid black, probably not the best way to get through, have to be comfortable, it's a great example of selective breeding where people decide, "hey, let's see if we can get a nice, beautiful, shiny, and showy arabian that's black, and there you have it.

Amber-host: they really are the horse of dreams. what are they used for now?

Kathy: you name it.

You'll find arabians that are race horses.

You'll find arabians that are endurance horses.you see them in dressage and jumping.

You pretty much name it and you can find an arabian that has either done it or could do it.

Amber-host: really your ultimate all around horse, your arabians.

Kathy: absolutely.

Great history,just incredibly versatile, too.

Amber-host: hi, beautiful.

He is gorgeous, too.

Their heads, they're nothing cuter than an arabian, just little... oh, you just want to pet it all day long.

Kathy: you notice, he's special,too.

He's got that look.

Amber-host: oh, yeah.

He's judging me right now.

Kathy, how can we come out and see the arabians?

Kathy: you can see beautiful breeds like lord rafique, the arabian, here at the breeds barn twice a day.

We have presentations at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, wednesday through sunday.

Amber-host: thank you so much.

And minnie, you do such a fabulous job with all these shows.

Minnie-barn manager: thank you.

Amber-host: we appreciate it.

Definitely come check it out.
