Right now, the hospital has a plan ready to go in case they need to add more beds.
That plan would add 8 more i-c-u beds in the emergency room.
They're also looking into adding 12 more i-c-u beds, but that change is contingent on federal funding.
At the same time, they're working to get their coronavirus unit ready at their parkway location.
That is set to open next month.
Bryan vest with decatur-morgan hospital says that if needed, other hospitals are ready to help.
"we're a member of the huntsville hospital health system so we would look to the system hospitals for help with placing patients."
A big concern right now is the number of younger people heading to the hospital.
To avoid a surge, vest says people shouldn't wait too long before heading to the doctor.
