Chico's Treat Street has some changes due to the coronavirus

The 20th year of Downtown Chico's Treat Street will be this Friday from 3 to 5pm.

It will be a drive-thru event rather than the usual trick-or-treating due to the pandemic.

Election.

Treat streetãa chico halloween tradition will be a bit different this yearã another casualty of the coronavirus.

Action news now reporter bryan ramsey is live in downtown chico today.

Bryan, what changes can people expect?

For one thing people need to know treat street will be a drive-thru event and not a trick- or-treat event like in the past.

In years past trick-or- treaters would walk through downtown chico.

Hundreds of kids dressed up and in search of candy.

Local business getting in the spiritãsome decorating their stores, many handing out candy.

But this year because of the pandemic, treat street will be celebrated socially- distanced in your car.

"i think it's a terrific idea that the kids are not going to be close together and this is a good still way for the rotary to interact with the kids and be able to hand these bags out to them and they still get to be in cars and hopefully their parents will decorate their cars because that's part of it."

The treat street drive-thru is this friday from 3 to 5pm.

You can enter on main street and follow the cones around 4th st to broadway to receive your treat bag.

This is the 20th year chico will be celebrating halloween with treat street.
