Governor puts a hold on high school basketball for now
Illinois High School hoops on hold
Back.... welcome welcome back.... the illinois high school association was scheduled to have a board meeting wednesday to discuss the upcoming high school hoops season.... the group along with many of our area schools were blindsided though today by an announcement from illinois govenor j-b pritzker ...... the govenor along with the illinois department of public health has moved basketball from medium risk, to the high risk caetgory... that means no contact is allowed in basketball, teams can't have intrasquad scrimmages let alone games.... the govenor today said that doesn't mean the season is canceled, just put on hold right now like many fall sports were in illinois... practices were scheduled to start on november 16th, with games tipping november 30th..... with today's announcement no new target date has been set for either.... the i-h-s-a sent out a press release saying they learned just 15 minutes before the governor's press conference about today's decisions.... the i-h-s-a still plans to meet tomorrow about what to do going forward....
