The covid-19 pandemic has scaled back many celebrations and holidays this year... but with halloween inching closer, an area restaurant is "treating" some kids to a surprise.

Kq2's kilee thomas was there to capture the scary good deed: <<kilee thomas reporting "guys, look what i got."

Kids have been through a lot this year -- covid-19 changing school, play dates and even holidays sot: madeline smith, headstart manager- "it's just different.

Children aren't used to seeing their parents in masks, they aren't used to being greeted at the door getting a wellness check to make sure they don't have a temperature."

But jc wyatt house, a st joseph restaurant, wanted to make sure this adult-sized problem..."this is too big!"

It really blew my mind because they really outdid themselves."

The local restaurant says the surprise halloween treat seemed like a great way to give back amidst the pandemic.

Sot: smith-"they were just so excited for every little bit they were getting."

"it was just nice seeing the kids get something, especially a gift, especially in a time like this."

Head start caregivers say watching the kids open their goodie bags ánatsá reminding them life can still be fun even during this crazy time sot: smith-"i think we can still enjoy things as long as we take the precautions."
